Using AI safely on site
Using AI safely on site
Four rules that keep AI useful and keep you out of trouble.
1. Keep personal and confidential information out
- Only use AI tools your employer has approved for project information.
- Don't paste personal data you don't need: injury or medical details, home addresses, phone numbers, or anything about someone's health.
- Don't paste confidential client information or commercially sensitive pricing unless your firm's policy allows it.
- Check your AI tool's data settings (training and retention). Business accounts usually give you more control.
2. Everything is a draft
AI can misread notes and get things wrong. Every SiteAgentics output ends “DRAFT — for review by a competent person. Not an issued notice/approved document.” A competent person must check it before it is filed, sent or relied on.
3. Answer the [CONFIRM] markers
When the kit doesn't have a fact, it writes [CONFIRM: …] rather than guessing. Answer each one. Never delete a marker without checking the fact.
4. Know what the outputs are not
- Sentry is not an approved RAMS. It is a first-pass checking aid for a competent person, who still reviews, accepts and signs. Duties under CDM 2015 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 stay with the duty holder.
- NEC notice drafts are not issued notices. Early warnings and compensation event notifications only count once you send them through the communication route your contract requires (NEC4 cl. 13). Check every clause reference and time limit against your own contract.
- None of the kits give legal, contractual, health and safety or professional advice.
Keep your originals
Keep your voice notes, photos and rough notes alongside the AI version. They are your evidence of what actually happened.
